How to choose fabric for sportswear
Start with the garment and the intensity of movement it must support. Leggings and sports bras usually need dependable four-way stretch, recovery, opacity, and enough weight to hold their shape. Training tops and gym shorts often benefit from lighter structures, faster moisture movement, and more airflow. This sportswear selection covers nylon-spandex knits from 160 to 370 GSM, including interlock, rib, piqué, perforated, brushed, and free-cut constructions.
Compare composition, structure, and finishing together. Nylon-spandex can provide a smooth hand and close-to-body comfort, but knit density and yarn tension also affect compression, recovery, and coverage. Before bulk production, test the chosen fabric in the intended garment for stretch, pilling, colorfastness, seam performance, wash recovery, and moisture management. Thermal, cooling, UV, antibacterial, or soft-touch properties should be confirmed on the selected base fabric.
Selected sportswear styles begin at a 200 kg MOQ, while heavier bonded or composite developments may require 1,000 kg. Share the garment type, target GSM, composition, color, finish, order quantity, and performance requirements before sampling so the recommended fabric and production route match the commercial brief.
